For the second issue of the series Zoom-In: Digitization in Art and Culture on 20 August, the Kulturförderpunkt Berlin cooperates with the AURORA School for ARtists for a glimpse into other realities: We immerse ourselves in the history of AR, have the technical basics explained and learn about AR applications in art and culture.
First and foremost, we look at the potential of AR, but also take a look at the discrepancy between the general idea and the actual possibilities of digitally augmented reality. We also learn more about the subtle difference to XR (Extended Reality) and the soon to be launched EU project for freelance creatives XR_Unites. We have invited exciting project makers who will take you on a journey and give you insights into the state-of-the-art of AR in art and culture.

Augmented Reality can expand and enrich the world we are used to – this is also the case with literature. At the Vierte Branchentreff Literatur (19.-21.06.2020) the author Juliane Wünsche will present her augmented reality application Zittau 1999, which she realised together with Leonid Barsht in the AURORA Production Laboratory. The presentation starts on 19.06.2020 at 3 p.m.!

Since May 2020, the AURORA School for ARtists has a new podcast: following on the workshop with the same name, the series ARtists go Economy focuses on the financing of creative AR projects, e.g. through public funding or start-ups. For inspiration Maja Stark talks to exciting people who work creatively with AR and successfully finance their projects. All the podcast can be found on the AURORA website under About us/ARtists go Economy Podcast.
Are you developing a creative AR application on your own and need advice from IT or digital media production specialists? After your time in the AURORA production lab, would you like to transfer your AR project from the INKA app into an independent application? Or do you have a business idea about AR that you would like to discuss with us after your AURORA training?
For such cases, AURORA School for ARtists now offers a consultation hour.
It takes place every two months on a Thursday and offers the opportunity to talk to us in timeslots of about 30 minutes each. The next dates are:
– Thursday, 16 January 2020, 10 am–4 pm
– Thursday, 12 March 2020, 10 am–4 pm
To arrange an exact time, please send an email to email@example.com – preferably including a brief description of your request and your time preference. We will get back to you as soon as possible.
