Augmented Reality (AR) is the extension of our analogue world with digital content, such as video, 3D animations, or music. The technology is already used in many fields, such as industrial manufacturing, medicine or marketing. However, AR also offers new opportunities for interactive and playful experiences that can reach a wider audience, especially the younger generation (see, for example, the game Pokemon Go). Last but not least, AR is increasingly being used in art: analogue works gain an additional dimension. The medium used here is a mobile device, such as a smartphone or a tablet, to which a corresponding app is first downloaded via one of the popular stores. While AR eyewear, such as the Microsoft Hololens, has mostly been used in industry and development, this is gradually changing with eyewear like the Magic Leap or Nreal, which will soon be released as an affordable consumer edition.
